The Top 10 Reasons to Write Ezine Articles
by Susan Dunn, M.A.

1. Much more proactive than a search engine listing.

People have to plug in the right search word to find you. With articles, you're going to them.

2. Incredible outreach.

When you write an article and submit it to an article placement site, any number of ezine publishers will come there to look for articles to put in their ezines. Now let's look at the numbers: 1 article, and 15 different ezine publishers pick it up and print it, and each ezine averages 5,000 subscribers. You do the math!

3. Reach new markets.

I've written hundreds of articles, and it changes rapidly, but as of today, I have articles in these ezines or websites: eFortune4u.com, TheLadiesClub.com, CareerBarn.com, SelfGrowth.com, YearRoundGardener, KowaBungaTech, HerbsMineralsAndVitamins.com, ManagerWise.com, and MomPlanet.com.

4. Longer half-life than Strontium-90.

Check out this site which offers health insurance to the public: http://www.uicisolutions.com/Acquaintance.htm , UICI Solutions. I wrote this article Jan. 2002 (it's New Year's tips) and it's been on this site for 11 months. Evidently I'm a permanent feature. In addition, most article sites archive articles, so your articles remain there for months, years, for others to read or publish. And ad goes out one time and then is gone forever.

5. Endless possibilities.

Your byline must accompany your article, along with the permission, so anyone who reads the article in an ezine can then turn around and use it also. You can see the growth potential is exponential.

6. You can do it.

Don't think you're "an expert?" If you're on the web, think what you know now that you didn't know 6 months ago, and start writing. Wherever you are in your knowledge of any field, there will always be people who know more, AND always people who need to hear what you've learned.

7. There's help.

Contact someone who's regularly published, or a coach who markets, and learn the ropes. It will save you a lot of time.

8. Newbies all the time.

I don't have current figures, but last year there were over 50,000 new users joining the web every day. You know more than any of those newcomers, and they're looking for tips and techniques. Ezine publishers are looking for articles all the time to feed this new public.

9. Monetary Value?

I had an article printed in a top website news ezine. My article was 350 words. A Top Ad in that ezine costs $4,000 ... and my article occupied nearly 10x the space of the ad.

10. Immediacy

Every time I'm published in the CoachVille Top Ten, I've had at least one person email me personally. What's the value of a real person, their email address, and a chance to tell them what I can do for them? You tell me!
